The Indiana County Composting Facility at the Indiana County
Recycling Center is run by the Indiana County Solid Waste Authority.
The facility accepts grass clippings, and small branches up to 5" in
diameter. No heavier branches and nothing from commercial lawn care
service.
Grass clippings and leaves and other yard waste should be placed at
the appropriate site. Materials must be removed from their containers
before placing at the location. When leaving, any and all containers
must be taken with you.
Distribution of the compost material created from the grass clippings
and leaves and other yard waste dropped off at the Recycling Center
is usually made available to residents in the spring, in the beginning of
April. The distribution is conducted on a first come, first serve basis.
Loading of the compost is available on a self serve basis. However,
for a $5 fee per visit, the Authority will load a maximum of two
skid loader scoops into your truck or trailer from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
So
Remember: Call the Recycling Center for further information
concerning the date set for availability of the compost when April
begins to draw near!
